WORDS FROM OUR PRESIDENT, DOUG PRINGLEdoug@disabledsports.netSet goals! Work hard! Achieve! This is one of our key messages to our clients and us. This is clearly what Disabled Sport USA Far West is about. By learning a high-challenge sport, participants get the message almost by osmosis. Success breeds success. Two turns on the ski hill lead to six. Six leads to more and more leads to good feelings about one’s ability. It is a dynamic demonstration of “can-do” spirit. That spirit permeates through Disabled Sports. It affects our volunteers who feel good about themselves and their contributions. It affects the staff that constantly strives to provide a positive uplifting experience for everyone involved. For us, the quality of each person’s experience is more important than serving masses of people in a marginal way. We want to continue to powerfully impact our participants and their families’ lives. To do that we are constantly raising the bar; setting new, loftier goals. We continually strive to improve our programs. We seek way to diversify our funding base and thereby provide solid, continued support for our work. Over the next few years our goals are lofty and we will need everyone in the Disabled Sports family to help. We are intent on broadening and diversifying our funding base. In that effort we are seeking more individual and corporate donors and working to improve our fundraising events. Plans call for the establishment of auxiliaries in local communities as a vehicle to involve clients, volunteers and donor in this effort. Together we will succeed. |
