Their Spirit Inspires Dinner 2010

An inspirational evening highlighting the positive effects of sports rehabilitation on recently disabled Iraq war veterans

WHAT: Soldiers and marines disabled in the Iraq War will spend a week in Sacramento learning sports to help them cope with their disabilities and adapt to everyday life. For the fifth year, Disabled Sports USA Far West is bringing those modern day American heroes to Sacramento to help them begin to continue to lead active, productive lives. The week will culminate in an inspirational dinner to honor the soldiers’ sacrifices for our nation. Participation in sports rehabilitation programs has long been recognized as being a powerful catalyst in the development of a positive self image and achieving attitude for people with disabilities. Our honored guests will gain specific skills that will increase their self-confidence and mobility.

In addition to this special sports camp, Disabled Sports works with more than 800 local children and adults with disabilities in our adaptive sports and therapeutic recreation programs each year.
