SUMMER SPORTS

Tahoe Sports Camp:

New this year is the Tahoe Sports Camp! We will have 1 camp for kids with disabilities and 1 camp for adults with disabilities. Participants will spend each day kayaking, cycling, sailing, playing wheelchair tennis and adaptive golf, all in the pristine mountain setting at Lake Tahoe, CA!

Tahoe Sports Camp 2008

Spaces Available:  
Disabled:  
Max 10 per event – Min 4 KIDS: August 15, 16 & 17
ADULTS: August 29, 30 & 31
Non-disabled:  
 Kayaking or Sailing participant: 1 per disabled.
Golf or Tennis participant: Not available to non-disabled participants.
Cycling participant: Unlimited if have own bike.
Observing only: Unlimited for no charge.
Meals: Unlimited for additional per person fee.
Tahoe Gal boat ride: Unlimited for additional per person fee.

Kids: Any disabilities 7-20 yrs, depending on disability. Must be accompanied by adult. Adult pays ½ price for individual activities or ½ on full package. Individual meals - full price. No charge for accommodations if they share room with disabled participant.
Additional family members pay full price.
Disabled participants have priority at all sports.
Adults: Any disabilities over 20 yrs depending on disability. If not independent with personal hygiene, must be accompanied by attendant who pays meals only if they share a room. A spouse or friend is welcome to participate. They pay ½ price for activities or ½ price on full package. No charge for accommodations if they share with disabled participant. Individual meals - full price. Additional non-disabled participants pay full price.
Disabled participants have priority at all sports.
Weight: Weight limit for wheelchair users who can’t do their own transfers is 185lbs. The limit is 250lbs if they are fully independent and strong enough to transfer from their wheelchair to adaptive sports equipment.
Water Safe: SAILING, KAYAKING and JET SKIING. All participants must be able to independently turn themselves face-up from a face-down position in the water, while wearing a type-1 pfd.
Lodging: Camp Noel Porter, Tahoe City. www.campnoelporter.com
Transportation: Limited transportation provided during camp.
Cost: $300 per person: 3 days of adaptive activities, 2 nights lodging, all meals each day.
$70 per person/per day: 2 activities and lunch. Lodging $90 extra. Dinner $15 extra.
$30 half day: Activity only. Lunch $10 extra.

12-1pm - Lunch at Donner Lake
1pm -4pm – Sailing at Donner Lake
4-6pm - On your own
6pm - Dinner and Adaptive Sports Film
Saturday
Breakfast at Camp Noel Porter
10am-12:30pm - Kayak at Meeks Bay, Lake Tahoe
12:30-1:15pm - Lunch at Meeks Bay
1:30pm-4pm – Cycle Lake Tahoe West Shore bike path
4-6pm - On your own
6pm - Dinner and Equipment Chat
Sunday
Breakfast at Camp Noel Porter
9:00am-11:30am – Tennis Tahoe City
11:30-12:00pm - Lunch at Commons Beach, Tahoe City?
12:30pm-4pm – Tahoe Gal Boat ride on Lake Tahoe

Please arrive: 15 minutes prior to each event. Call if you are running late.
Please do not Bring: Pets (unless official guide dogs), alcohol or glass containers
We Provide: All adaptive sports equipment, life jackets, wet suits, bicycle helmets, etc.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included depending on package purchased.
Accessibility: Golf course, pro shop, clubhouse, restrooms and driving range are wheelchair accessible.
Donner Lake West End Beach has accessible restrooms. Long grassy lawn to beach.
Meeks Bay has accessible restrooms near beach. Long dirt path to beach.
Cycling has accessible restroom at staging area.
Tennis accessible restroom to be arranged.
Tahoe Gal boat requires transfers from wheelchair to get in boat. Cabin door is 24”
Weather: Log onto www.noaa.gov to check temperatures in Truckee and Tahoe City.

WHAT TO BRING FOR DAILY ACTIVITIES
All Sports

• Sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat, bug spray
• Water bottle
• Light jacket for cool or windy weather.
• Duffle bag or day pack to carry your “stuff”.
Jet Skiing, Sailing & Kayaking
• Rubber sandals with heel straps, aqua-socks or old tennis shoes
• Dry change of clothes and towel
• Bathing suit or quick-dry shorts and shirt
Golf & Tennis
• Comfortable shirt and shorts or pants you can move in.
• Closed toe shoes
• Golf clubs or tennis racket if you have it.

Cancellations
• CANCEL 5 business days in advance and receive credit which is good for any Disabled Sports programs for 1 year.
• NO SHOW or CANCEL less than 5 business days in advance – forfeit your payment.
